Craobh Osraí Branch of Comhaltas in Kilkenny was formed in 1987 as a branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is a non-profit cultural movement working for the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music. The branch was originally formed by a group of set dancers and our branch has maintained this strong tradition of dancing over the past thirty years. Over that time we have continued to grow the variety of classes on offer and as interest grew so did our branch membership. We now have several teachers teaching a variety of instruments as well dance teachers for set and sean nós dancing. Our members compete at County, Provincial and All Ireland Fleadhanna each year.
The committee and members of Craobh Osrai branch are proud to have been involved with growing our branch and promoting Irish Culture in Kilkenny City and its surrounds for over 30 years and we look forward to continuing this work for many years to come.
